Good, now try a program that doesn't use all of you resources and won't cost you a thing. AOL Active Virus Shield powered by Kaspersky is currently the best free anti-virus (99.62% detection rate). The most popular free anti virus programs are AVG Free and Avast which are recommended above Norton and McAfee but have poor detection rates (82.82%, 87.46% respectively). Norton is notoriously bloated and takes forever to perform full systems scans. If you want to pay for an anti-virus NOD32 is highly recommended. You can download AOL Active Virus Shield, AVG or Avast from the links below. There is absolutely no spyware and they are completely free but your system should only have one anti-virus program.

The preference from the majority of users that I have read on Yahoo Answers is that AVG is one of the best, and free anti-virus programs available for free antivirus. I personally also like AVG.

Now try the Avast www.avast.com.

Is free just get full version and if for 1 Month ,but if it expire in the right at the bottom a announcement would says that your trial would expire shortly just click on the announcement and would appear buy or get avast 0 2 just find get new KEY

And it would extend your Avast for a long time

try AVG free addition. i have it on my PC and have had no problems for a long time now. it automatically scans in the morning and is updated regularly. best is it is free with no obligations to upgrade to the paid version later.
PS it conflicts with NORTON so don't have both of them on your machine at the same time.
good luck.

avg is free, go to www.download.com for free download.
i installed it 1 month ago ,no problems. But you need to uninstall all of the norton junk or it will bog your computer
down the closer it gets to runing out. Go to symantic.com
and download NORTON UNINSTALL TOOL its free also.

Make sure you use the Norton removal tool to get rid of the current installation as Norton is notorious for not removing completely with a regular uninstall.

Your better off renewing your subscription. As much as people like to bash Norton, it is the best anti-virus program, and is used by more corporations than any other virus program.

Spybot - Search & Destroy detects and removes spyware, a relatively new kind of threat not yet covered by common anti-virus applications. Spyware silently tracks your surfing behaviour to create a marketing profile for you that is transmitted without your knowledge to the compilers and sold to advertising companies. If you see new toolbars in your Internet Explorer that you haven't intentionally installed, if your browser crashes inexplicably, or if your home page has been "hijacked" (or changed without your knowledge), your computer is most probably infected with spyware. Even if you don't see the symptoms, your computer may be infected, because more and more spyware is emerging. Spybot-S&D is free.

*Never install more than one anti-virus on your PC, as they may conflict with each other. On the other hand, its always good to install more than one anti-spyware.
