Yes it snows in Denver and sometimes it can be pretty harsh. Last October I visited Denver and they had a blizzard right before I got there. When I got there there was 4 feet of snow on the ground and it was 60 degrees outside. That was awsome seeing as how I am from southern Texas and it never snows here. If you want to go skiing though, the ski resorts dont open until early November.

Yes, but normally the snow is just 2-4 inches and it will be gone in less than 24 hours. Beginning in mid November that's not the case; as it has snowed a foot before Nov. 15 on occasion in Denver!

Afraid Mama's right.....October is pretty unpredictable when it comes to snow. Most of the time, it's pretty nice temperatures. Generally, most of the Front Range receives the most snow in February through April. Even in the mountains, there's not that much snowfall yet in October. Loveland, Steamboat, Winter Park, are some of the first ski resorts to open every year and they usually open around mid-October. But it really depends on how much snow they get. The lower elevation resorts don't open until much later. If you're planning a trip just for skiing, I'd hold off a month or so. There's no guarantee there's going to be powder to play in in October.

In college we used to take bets when the first snowfall would hit here in denver. It's uncanny how the first snowfall is always during or right around Halloween. It's usually not much, just few inches and it's gone the next day.

Now the Mtns. can get quite a bit of snow during Oct. If you go up there, be prepared for winter driving conditions.

October is the very beginning of snow season. Often there are small flakes by Halloween, but no major snow storms. It is usually pretty cold by October, though.
