Currently, you have to be born a U.S. citizen and be 35 years old to run for President. If someone is naturalized at 2 years old, why not allow that person to run for President at 37? If someone comes here at 20, why not allow that person to run for President at 55? This way, our nation will treat all citizens equally and not treat naturalized citizens as 2nd class citizens.
And no, I really don't care of Arnold can become president or not. Laws should not be passed for one person. They should be passed for everyone.

To all those who answer no, please state what you are actually afraid of? Is there a specific fear that someone who was naturalized at 12 would somehow ruin the country if he/she became president? Wouldn't the checks and balances of the two other branches of government prevent horrible things from happening? And why should we create a 2nd class of citizens that are somehow considered to be lesser than those who are born americans?

And I am not talking about illegal aliens, why someone would bring that up in this conversation is beyond me.

Absolutely not! That is the one thing that we as Americans still have that isn't being changed! Look at everything else, when you call anywhere, it's usually press one for Spanish--press two for English. This is America, we speak English, learn the language or go back home. Then there is the welfare being collected by illegal immigrants! Why should we as Americans be paying the way for illegals? If you weren't born here then you don't have the right to be the leader of our Country! It seems as though our Country is being overtaken by foreigners, they display their own Country's flags in place of ours, they (not all) abuse our system, and take jobs from us. In my opinion we have given enough. It's time to take some of our own heritage back! You don't see an American becoming President of any other country. Why should we give that honor to anyone but one of our own?
Even if someone were naturalized as you put it after 12 years or whatever length of time you want to put on it, would that be a guarantee that they weren't planted here and/or trained as terrorists? Would you not worry that our Constitution as it is today might possibly be changed to the laws and beliefs of the country that the naturalized citizen came from? Give me one example where anyone has been a president of a country that they were not a born citizen of.
And as far as your illegal immigrant comment goes, they are all illegal until they get the LEGAL paperwork done. And very few do that BEFORE entering our country!! So one goes along with the other.

No. We have 300 million potential candidates. That should be enough. An amendment to the Constitution is timely and costly. A bill has to go through the House. It then goes through the Senate. Then the President has to sign it. Then it has to be ratified by 2/3 of all of the states. We have nothing to gain, as a country, by doing all of that.

He has chosen tax cheats for his cupboard 5. He has weakened our nationwide secure practices with the statements of approaches undesirable the U. S. is to diverse international places. 6. he's able to launch terrorists from Gitmo without plan of the area they are going. it rather is what you call wonderful. we want in straightforward words 4 years of him, now not 4 words. rather words do now not make a optimal appropriate president.

Our Founding Fathers put the law on natural born citizen in because they did not want us to be like when foreign born Kings wound up King of this or that European Country (like German born Kings George I and George II of England, George I couldn't even speak English, at least George II could).

i am an immigrant but i dont agree with you, that would mean that America has to not only open it's borders to every one but run the countrie keeping the whole world in mind.
There are reasons every country and states have their own laws. would lets say Mexico be ok if an american became it's president? And on top of that let him make laws for that country?

The idea is worth kicking around... -But I don't like the idea of amending the Constitution. The fact is, it's worked pretty WELL after 200+ years with the Amendments that HAVE been added to it... I can't see how changing it now would make much of an improvement...

No, but we should at least have some sort of basic intelligence test to weed out those who have risen so far beyond their level of incompetence that the air is too thin and insufficient to allow their brains to realize that they don't know what they're doing.

It sounds like you have a big dilemma, I always have big dilemma's also, so you just need to take some prescription drugs, UHm K, and you will not recognize the problem anymore, because your brain will be in some other place, like mine!! And then it won't matter anymore. I take a lot of prescriptions, and I feel so much better about life. And I know they have a lot of different types, so you shouldn't have a problem finding one that works for you. You will be OK and everything will be fine. Hopefully we can stop global warming soon!!! And I really wish our alien parents would come home!!
