When you feel comfortable in you own skin and not afraid to voice your concerns.

Emotional maturity to me means you willingly admit when your wrong and do something about it. It also means accepting to others and when the case calls for it, a positive outlook (though still realistic) in orders to keep both yourself and others happy. Which brings me to another to point to regard yourself as no ones superior or inferior but to regard everyone as equal (no matter how hard). However what i think your talking about (i could be wrong) is when you are fully mature emotionally. Alas, i don't believe that anyone is ever fully mature emotionally even as an adult but rather, just have instances when they were acting mature. I'm sorry if that last bit confused you, also i would like to complement you on your question as its been bugging me as well. Hope this helps (if you didn't get too confused =p) have a good day. =]

Emotional maturity is when you learn to control your emotions. When you can sit back in a scary/fun/wierd experience and coach yourself into the right response.

Say you're angry at your mum cause she ground you for staying out too late at night and you had a big fight. Emotional maturity in this situation would be sitting back, apologising to your mum and not taking any initiative in your anger. Ie. writing an anger letter or taking revenge by getting back at her for something you'd drudged up in her past.

So all in all, learning to guide emotion from a side angle would be defined as 'emotional maturity'

It doesnt come with age. you can attain it any time or not at all. it is the wisdom to know and predict the emotional impact of your actions on yourself and those around you. and also how to deal with other peoples emotional issues in a caring way.

you are emotionally mature....
When you realise that the universe doesn't revolve you.
When your first thought in the morning is for the good of someone else.
When you realise that you are no better or worse than anyone else and are comfortable with that thought.
When you can live alone, but not be shy of asking for company or help.
When you can forgive and truly forget.
When you can do good deeds without needing thanks or recognition.
When you can think of your own death calmly, without panic or dread (we all fear death a little at least).

The extension that your feelings agree with your understanding. Depending on the level you want to take it; some people talk about attention management; and other people, on a much higher level, talk about intention management.

Good luck!
