I believe it has to do with many reasons. Probably first and fore most is i allow them to obsess about themselves. I am not being honest with them by saying "will you just shut up for five minutes about yourself?" With out this factor, they wouldn't! Or i suppose they would find someone else to listen to them......Then there is their insecurities. Someone who is obsessed with themselves are generally hiding something or it is fear based. Maturity plays a role too. Learning how to balance out things is a skill and one that has to be practised. Of course that fails to explain why some adults are narcissistic doesn't it!

Well she is bipolar so it could be that's the reason. I think though it's because all through school the other kids just treated her so badly and she never had many friends. Now I think she feels the need to just get everything and do everything for herself while her family gets nothing or comes last. At Christmas last year she bought lots of stuff for herself her kids only got a game each and a shirt they had to wait for later to get much then when money is low and she can't buy stuff she sells their late big gift on EBAY to get money to buy herself something else. Now that's self obsessed!
