The pagan abomination is there because Moshe Dyan refused to finish the job. The Rabbis were ready, and willing, as were the majority of the Israeli soldiers, to suffer whatever losses necessary to clense the Mount of this dung heap. Moshe, although he was a great military leader, said "NO". It is the same sickness seen in Israel today. The leadership is secular. The Word of the Almighty is not heeded, so the enemies of Israel flourish and commit acts of murder against the Israelites. Moshe Dyan is why the Mosque is sitting there like a tacky piece of costume jewelry. It makes me sick! I want to go home, but until Israel has leadership that recognizes God above all, I guess will stay here.

The Islamic masque was built before the take over in 1967. Seems extra kind of the Jews to save the Mosque

Because that mosque may be, after Mecca, the most sacred spot in the Islamic world. It would have been a desecration either to destroy it or to prevent its present use. It is not as it could be replaced by Solomon's temple. The most recent Jewish temple on that spot was built by Herod -- who was not Hebrew -- and destroyed by the Romans, not by followers of Mohammed.

Why would they deface a holy monument of another religion? Just because?
It's not like they were going to rebuild the Temple over the ruins of the dome of the rock.

The Dome of the Rock was there for a long time and the Israeli's do not want a war with Muslims. They want to live in peace with them regardless of the propaganda that suggests otherwise.

"anobium625" is right, the Dome of the Rock is the third most holy site in Islam. If you tear it down, you will start World War III.
