Do you believe Nancy Pelosi is for the poor and middle class people?

If you do then why is she wanting to subsidize farmers that make a million dollars a year? The president wants to cut it back to 200,000 which is too much I think. I know her and others keep saying they are for the poor and middle class but they keep raising taxes and that hurts them too. Please tell us why you believe what they say compared to what they do.
Would like to hear some honest comments instead of smart remarks about this.

SHE IS THIRD IN LINE FOR THE PRESIDENCY. A VERY WEALTHY WOMAN AND MONEY DOES GIVE YOU POWER.

I DO NOT BELIEVE SHE IS FOR THE POOR AND MIDDLE CLASS AT ALL. TAKE FOR INSTANCE, IF SHE IS NOT INTERESTED IN WASTING THE TAXPAYERS MONEY
THEN WHY DOES SHE INSIST ON FLYING AN EXPENSIVE NON STOP AIRPLANE FROME WASHINGTON TO SAN FRANSISCO? SHE CAN TAKE A MUCH LESS EXPENSIVE PLANE THAT HAS TO MAKE ONE STOP TO REFUEL BUT SHE WANTS THE LARGER GAS HOG TO FLY BACK AND FORTH IN..

Bush, the great fiscal conservative! How did we get that 3 1/2 Trillion additional dollars added to the 3 1/2 we already had?

He's fiscal conservative alright! Perhaps that is why the wounded of Iraq are suing him because of their lack of medical care! 22,000 others they just throw out of the service for "pre-existing personality disorders" after 1 or 2 tours in Iraq, many who had been within 20 feet of a blast or had Purple Hearts. Sounds to me like they just don't want to pay them! How do they know it was "pre-existing"?

America loves her vets! Yea right!! Until it comes to their health and care AFTER they have lost body parts!!!

And who is the middle class? Less than 12 million families of the 132 million who filed tax returns made over $100.000!! One-half of American families earn $25,000 and less! That is over 66 MILLION families!

Pelosi, and all the rest of the elite on the hill (that is almost everybody) think that the middle class earn between $100,000 and $200,000! That is 9.7 million of 132 million The average salary in the US is $44,000!! Try living in Boston on that, or anywhere else with a family!

Maybe, but she is in Washington DC. Everyone in the legislative branch is out for them and their buddies and campaign contributors. How do you think they stay in office? Poor people don't vote much, can't get media time, and can't pay for reelection campaigns. Why do you think minimum wage hasn't increased in 10 years, yet congress gives themselves 3 or 4 percent increase per year. Which their raise this year, is one third of a minimum wage employees entire yearly income is. So I don't believe they are for the poor and middle class. If they were people who make millions and hundreds of millions of dollars a year would be paying a minimum tax of 30 percent after deductions and 40 percent without. Warren buffet made over 100 million and payed 16 or 17 percent in taxes while his assistant payed 30 percent on 60,000 income. System is flawed and when you have people in office who have something to gain from being there it only gets worse.

Remember, in this case as in all cases in politics, a politician only has to give the appearance of being on your side. When it comes down to it, politicians are individuals who are self interested just like everyone of us.

At the risk of over-generalization, I think that there are two types of politicians:

1) There are those like Pelosi who seek to enhance their finances and/or their egos. These types of people attain power by satisifying powerful interests. While they may grandstand for representing the "common man", they really stand for very limited interests. I believe that most politicians fall into this category.

2) There are those driven by ideological motives. In a recent conversation with a Chinese friend, I was assured that Mao Zedong was very sincere. My friend told me that neither Mao nor any of his family gained from bein in power. He murdered millions, my friend claimed, because he really believed in Communism. In America, we have Neo-conservatives who believe it is right to remake the world by use of their military might. It is these people who truly believe that they work for a better cause that we should fear.

Farmers have bilked the system for years, and many other members of Congress support this besides Pelosi.

Bush's tax cuts have done some good, but he's payed for it through deficit spending, and greatly increased our national debt. If you conducted your personal finances like this, you'd be in a heap of trouble!

Most Dems (because they are fiscally responsible) want a balanced federal budget. Unfortunately, this usually results in higher taxes.

In the case of Nancy Pelosi, she SAID that the new congress would push through a bunch of changes early on. In reality, they've done very little, except calling for repeated investigations and naming mail facilities.

Politicians can do a lot worse than vote to raise taxes.
She wouldn't necessarily be for them even more than if she voted to cut them permanently instead.
It all depends also on how much is spent on social services like education and health care or the military.
