No to abortion, morning after pill, government funding of stem cell research, gay marriage, right to die, and in the past no to women rights, interracial marriage, birth control pills, and in-vitro fertilization.

AND YET (THIS IS THE IMPORTANT PART)

refuse to use the government to practice what Jesus actually preached?

Sell what you have and give to those in need. Invite the lame, the blind, the crippled to your banquets even if they cannot pay you back. Give to those who beg. It is easier for a camel to enter the eye of a needle then for a rich man to go to heaven. Give to ceaser what is ceasers. You cannot serve God and wealth, etc, etc.

Why the belief in using the government for social issues Jesus said nothing about, but not use the government for economic issues there is plenty of gospel scripture for?

Instead they equate using government to help people (education, job training, GI Bills, healthcare, etc) to having a gun put to their head.

vinny,

I don't from what right-wing pundit you heard that line from, but this liberal is against all forms of government funding of religion. Religion should remain seperate from government.

They do so because they realize that enlisting the government is an effective way of spreading their moralistic messages. They justify the intrusion into privacy and individual rights areas on moral or “values” grounds thereby trying to deflect criticism.

I agree with you that it is infinitely more justifiable to have the government use its economic power to spend national funds to help its citizens than to limit individual choices and individual rights on religious grounds.

I don't believe we do. As far as abortion and gay marriage you don't have the right to expect us to vote for something we believe is wrong. If people want these things the vote has to come from people who believe it is right , you don't have the expect us to help with it. We would not be true to our beliefs if we did. I have never been against women's rights or interracial marriage for religious or any other reason.

Hypocrisy and fear?

Same reason some libs do what is mentioned above.

However, how is attacking the other side proving that you dont do what is said? First two arguments are the weakest Ive seen on here today, and thats saying a lot.

because people hear and see what they want. they pick and choose how to apply and what to recognize within their own religious doctrines.

the surprising thing is that this fact continues to surprise anyone.

its will continue for as long as there are both people and "religions" (i.e. baseless beliefs founded on superstition and fear and devoid of reason)

Why do libs try to force their hedonism on the public square?

why do you think that religious people have no right to assembly and petitioning their government...even though they do have religious points of view?

ADDITION: The lib mindset comes out in a thumbs down regarding freedom of assembly, freedom of expression, and the right to petition the government. Do libs really think the Constitution applies only to lib speech and assembly and petitions to the government?

Bizarre.

The bible (the way they interpret it) tells them too.

At least it doesn't tell them to decapitate random people for the crime of not being Christian, or coming from another country nor tell them to fly planes into buildings...

Use the government to enforce?

You mean like liberals demanding the removal of manger scenes from schools but allowing Islamic symbols to remain?

Enforced like that?

Idiot.
