Self confidence is very important in life without it you will get nowhere.

I am now a self confident person. I have to thank my husband for this. I started my life out not so. I looked at my feet all the time. This was due to growing up with a bipolar mother who was fairly abusive and being molested. I had lots of obsticles to overcome. However i finally learned I was a worthwhile person who had good attributes. So you can become a self confident person even if you were not.

I believe that self-confidence is extremely important. If one does not have self-confidence it can hold one back from getting the job they have always wanted or the chance of meeting the love of their life. I do believe that I have self confidence, however, I was not as confident as I am today. During high school, I never said the things I really wanted to say. Now that I am in college, my self confidence has increased dramatically. I can now speak to almost anyone I meet and say what is one my mind.

Self confidence gives you the gumption to do something, even if you've never tried it before, and learn new things about yourself. A lack of confidence means not trying the new things. For instance, my High School Junior sister would be an amazing actress. I tried to get her to go into drama, but she wouldn't. Think of the opportunities she has missed! She could be headed into Hollywood right now, if she had the confidence to try a new thing!

However, confidence in extreme quantities leads to immodesty. Like me. I have a bragging problem. I also have a lot of confidence in my abilities to be above average. So, I end up being too confident and ticking off everyone around me. But as long as you don't overdo yourself, confidence is something everyone should learn to have.

I think it's nice to have an eliment of self confidence in your life as it probably does help you go a long way, but I think too many people confuse confidence with intelligence.
From what I have seen on the T.V. and in general life etc people who are over confident and love themselves too much really are'nt that way at all. They cannot keep up with the pretence of it all and are the biggest cry babies going.
Confidence to me is about how you can handle yourself in ANY given situation. Also I truly believe it does come with age and experience.

I know a lack of self-confidence has held me back because I was afraid to try new things. I know I'm not as confident as I should be, though I'm improving. The answer to your third question is no.

Depends if it's a false confidence or true. Depends what backs up your confidence, if you can back up your boasts, you have a good confidence. But self belief is important and can be encouraged and nurtured. You can make your self believe that you can do those things that you wish to do. Then you will do it.

Measuring the value of self confidence is impossible. It is the most important intangible thing you own, and is yours alone.

How can a lack of it hold one back? There is plenty of examples of that.

Yes, I believe I am confident.

No, I have not always been this way. You have to achieve high confidence levels and learn to operate at that level of thought and self-evaluation. That does not come easy, nor is it handed out.

I believe that self-confidence, especially coming across to other people as confident can be a very beneficial thing.

When you believe in your own value and worth other people are more likely to see you, and treat you, as someone to be valued. This can reap many rewards.

I believe that for some people how they were treated when they were young and forming their identity has much to do with how they feel about themselves now.

Self confidence has a lot of good sides, but let's not forget you can be too self confident and it may make you feel you have power over everyone else. I worked with a girl who was like this (and she admitted it)

I used to be mega confident, but since having my children i feel I have lost my identity somewhere and would never have the confidence to go for that new job i want, or to walk upto a stranger and strike up a conversation with them.
