Sociology is a broad view of studying society. Psychology is the study of individuals. They are a sort of opposites of each other. Who likes one or the other really depends on whether you are a big-picture (sociology) or a detail (psychology) person. Both are fascinating ways to under the world.

Jeanne has already given you a good overview of the subject. I found the intro course to be pretty intuitive, so it wasn't a class that I paid a lot of attention to. I'd put it in that range of not fascinating (for me) but not likely to induce a coma either.

sociology isn't just one course...it's a whole department. what it's about depends on what specific course you take. in a general sense, it's about society. i took my soc.110 class 3 years ago, and hated it, but that was because the professor sucked.
