I think the pairings epilogue was gratuitous and a bit sugary. But, I think in a lot of ways both the movies and the fandom have affected the way she writes the books. I really felt that OotP was written as a movie, not with the same clever and quirky style that marked her first four books.

Likewise, I think JKR felt some sort of pressure to "decide" who was correct and incorrect in the Mighty Battle of the "Ships", which apparently people take quite personally. I think she would have been best off hinting at the future with a sort of "Well, what are you going to do now, Harry?" and ending with a longing glance at Ginny with a smile...enough to "answer" but still leaving enough to keep our imaginations churning.

I'll try this w/o spoilers

I liked it don't get me wrong, but the some of the deaths were not needed and I didn't like the pairrings. The epilogue was confusing to not only me but LOADS others and total fafic-ish.

Other then that, the 3rd and 7th book turned out to be my favies, even if I did bawl out my eyes during this last edition.... *tears some more*

Without spoiling the ending for those who have not read the book yet, I'm going to say that I had mixed feelings.

The book was an awesome page turner; it was hard to put down.

The ending was both pleasing and disappointing at the same time. I would give my reasons but that would involve giving away the ending.
