There would have been if the Dems had been smart enough to nominate Joe Lieberman in either of the last two elections instead of the stiffs they did put out there.

Although I think your sentiment is positive, you are alas using a stereotype. Yes, there are smart and practical Jews - there are also stupid and ditzy Jews! You find the same distribution of qualities within the Jewish community as you do in all other groups/communities.

As for why America has never had a Jewish president, I don't know. Perhaps for the same reason there's never been a black or asian president, either.

Or a female president.....

Jews are overrepresented in Congress currently. There are 13 Jewish senators-that's 13%. In the House there are 30 Jewish representatives. In the past there was a lot of prejudice towards the idea of a Jewish, or Black, or Woman president. While some people still wouldn't vote for one of these because of their prejudice, the majority of American voters would-if they liked the candidate for other reasons. Joe Lieberman was Al Gore's vice-presidential candidate and his religion was not a big deal.

So are most atheists, Muslims, Buddhists and Wiccans. Look up "electability" to get your answer. Also, throw your weight behind Michael Bloomberg and push for him to run. He would have an outside shot.

Generalizations are irrelevant.

The Democrats should draft Russ Feingold to be their nominee for President. They should expel Joel Lieberman from their party.

Because they make more money running banks, making movies and doing things that might actually make a difference ... why take a pay cut and get extra headaches just to be president?

Republicans have shown they prefer non-smart politicians, and their ideology does not yield to practicality.

Prejudice, and bigotry.
You just elected your first Catholic president in 1960 (Kennedy)
