my guess is they will win it when the Fords are no longer owners, or when pigs fly.

The Lions are one of the most dysfunctional teams in the NFL. They need a new ownership philosophy. Then they need to stop running their terrible version of the West Coast Offense. Either go with a Bill Parcels/Chicago Bears style pound the ball with the run or execute the West Coast Offense well like Philly, Green Bay, and San Fransisco used to. Stop drafting wide receivers in the first round. Get a quarterback, a run game, and a defense that actually tackles on the first try rather than using four guys to stop someone's forward progress.

The Lions could win the Super Bowl only a couple of years from now. The keys would be to fire Matt Millen and make a push to sign a difference maker at quarterback. Not a flash in the pan guy (Scott Mitchell), not an overrated draft pick (Joey Harrington), not a past his prime former star (Jeff Garcia), or a veteran career back-up (Jon Kitna). They have talent but a lot of youth. they need a QB who can keep the job for a few years and be the kind of guy where no one questions whether or not he deserves to be the starter.

They have a lot of talented guys who just need to play together and gel. The core is there but over the next few seasons they need to make the right personnel moves and keep a coach long enough to get his system completely implemented.

It COULD happen soon. Teams rise form the ashes overnight in the NFL (Ravens, Bucs, Rams). They just need better direction from the front office, draft like they got some sense, and a few key role players to give them an attitude and they could be in the SB within the next few years. The talent is certainly there.

That's as close as a prediction as I care to give Detoit.

Unfortunately, none of us are fortune tellers. But I can give you one that I know is right: One day in time or never. Don't waste your time asking such a retarded question like this just because the Lions have been unsuccesful.
