Applying make-up can be really confusing. From keeping your skin healthy, to applying the final touches on your color, I have tips, suggestions and the basic know-how to apply the perfect make-up.
Step One: Face

To begin with, you need to have a clean face. An artist doesn't paint on a dirty canvas, and neither should you!

* Wash face and neck thoroughly
* Apply a water-based moisturizer

Step Two: Concealer and Base

If there are any blemishes that need to be covered, begin with a concealer.

* Use a yellow-based concealer to match your complexion without adding unnecessary color
* Dab on all locations that you wish to cover. Gently rub in, but do not rub off

After that is complete, you are ready to apply a base foundation.

* Choose a color that matches really closely to your actual skin tone
* Test the foundation to make sure the color blends nicely
o The right foundation will seem to "disappear" on your face
* Cover entire face, blending into the neck

Step Three: Cheek Color

Color is used to accentuate features.

* Make sure to use a darker shade to lift your cheekbones
* Apply from the earlobe down towards the cheek. This prevents leaving a blob of color in the middle of your cheek!

Using a coppery color will accentuate the darker skinned, while a peach or pale pink works nicely with more fair skin. Lighter colors can be used to highlight as well, following the same pattern.
Step Four: Eyes

To apply eye make-up, it works best to have two or three shades of one color.

* Apply the lightest shade to the entire eyelid
* The middle shade is applied to the lower part of the eyelid, closest to the lashes
* The darkest shade is applied to the corners of the eyes to create a sense of depth
* Eyeliner is used to blend the color into the lashes
o Start in the middle of the eyelid, moving out toward the corners
o Make sure to blend it into the eyelid
o It can be covered with a small amount of lighter eye shadow to make it less dramatic
* Mascara should be last
o If you have fair skin, lighter mascara, like brown, would be less dramatic and more natural
o Apply two coats and wait for it to dry

Step Five: Lips

There are numerous combinations to use when applying lipstick. Lip liner does not necessarily need to be used, but it helps to bring out the color and shape of your lips.

* If lip liner is used, make sure that the lip liner and lipstick blend nicely
* Start lining from the inside and move out towards the edges
* Then, taking a lip brush, apply the color
o Using a brush allows more even coverage and helps control the amount of color applied
* Finishing off with a shine gloss gives lips that "kiss me" glow!

Finished Product!

Make-up takes time to perfect. Practice is the best way to achieve the look that you want. Spend a little time in front of the mirror everyday. Soon you will find the look that is right for you and you will find that you ARE beautiful ...inside and out!
