You might not realize it but this is a trick question. Humans don't have the power to -destroy- the earth. All we can do is to make it so that we can't live on it anymore.
In other words we can't destroy the earth, we can only destroy ourselves (and perhaps take most other species along with us). We might do this slowly, by poisoning ourselves and using up our capability to produce food, or quickly in a nuclear war. When environmentalist talk about 'saving the planet' they're really talking about saving US!
In about 10 billion years the sun will begin to burn out. It will expand as it grows cooler, into a big cloud of gas. This cloud will encompass the earth. Even once it begins, the process will take millions of years. Barring some kind of deliberate demolition (as in Hitch-Hikers Guide to the Galaxy), that is the only way the earth can be destroyed.
OTOH -WE- could be destroyed in a week if GW Bush decides nuclear weapons are the only way to deal with Iran and North Korea.

Global warming has been happening cyclicly for millions of years. I hardly believe we were driving cars to polute the atmosphere back then. Even if all the nuclear bombs in the world went off at once, of curse all human life would die, but some other forms of life would live, and the earth itself would be relatively unaffected geologically. So most definately nature.
Mr. Knowitall, exactly the point I was trying to make. Well put.

Humans because we are always doing things to add to the effect of nature like for instance: pollution we cause that but it's affect on nature is it makes the ozone smaller. we as humans do a lot of damage not realizing that it has a dramatic effect on our home the planet earth.

Humans will never destroy the planet. We might kill ourselves off, along with large portions of other life on Earth, but the planet will go on revolving around the sun until our closest star swells and becomes a red giant.

Without a doubt I believe that humans will deplete earth's resources. We are very destructive due to greediness and irresponsibility to earth. Our predecesors lived thousands of years living from natural resources without doing all the damage that we presently are doing. It's all very depressing specially if you see that the states is the #1 DEPLETER!

If by "destroying" the Earth, you mean causing the ball of rock called our planet to stop existing, there is no way that mankind can do that (see links below).
If you simply mean kill all life on Earth, i don't think that we can do that either.
But we might succeed in killing ourselves off.
