It really depends, some periods can last 4-5 days, while others last 5-7 days. Like I said it really depends on your body. There is usually 1-2 days where your body is finishing up with it's cleansing process where you are through bleeding but still discharging and this is normal. If you have had your period for a month or so you should be able to roundabout tell how long it will last. You should also know that birth control affects your period as well. Some birth control that takes away your periods for months at a time, then you will have a much longer period when you finally start. Other types of birth control simply regulate your period for the same time of the month, and can make them lighter. Either way before you take some type of birth control you should speak with your doctor to determine the effects on your period.

you know it REALLY REALLY depends. alot of things can change how long it lasts or how light or heavy it is. the typical actual period lasts for 7 days but most of the bleeding is from 4-5 days and just some spotting on the rest. i get at least one really heavy period a mont that maybe lasts 9 days or something. if your stressed or have taken new medication that might mass up your cycle tho
