I understand, I also live in an apartment and my neighbors upstairs are so d*** noisy!! At the beginning was very hard because my little one got very disturbed. So, one day I went up and talked to them, said that I had a newborn baby and that it would be nice if them could keep it down & quiet...they seemed to understand and it got better...anyway she has accustomed to hearing noise and everything, it's easier now (she's 6 months old) that she knows the world outside mommy is noisy....it is harder when they are newborns. Talk to them, you won't feel that uncomfortable when your baby starts crying because he/she can't get any sleep from all the noise! Do it before the baby is born....and congratulations!

I am actually going through the same thing. yes your baby will sleep through anything but, a loud bang could startle her/him. Check with the complex's noise policy. 3 complaints could be a cause for eviction. My upstairs neighbors threw a pack of black cat's onto my patio at 10:30 july 4th night and my baby (8 months) slept threw it. Just keep a fan going in the room and a t.v or radio in the next room. But, do not be afraid to ask someone to quiet down all they can do is say no and then who looks like a complete jerk.

Tell the person in charge of the building so that they can do something about it, if you're afraid of you baby waking up. If your neighbors are nice people try talking to them maybe they'll understand. Just let it be known that you have a baby on the way and you'd like for them to settle down just a little bit. Some babies can sleep threw anything.

Well, unless you make a complaint or make their problem known, they won't stop. I hated living in an apartment. I lived on the bottom floor and was damned-near scared to death (had to go to the emergency room!) by bastards who would get up pre-dawn hours making noise.
Your apartment/building management must now about it...again! Sounds like some passive-aggressive sh** on their part. A calm, but firm confrontation will have to happen ultimately.
P.S.
Babies sleep through almost anything...especially when they're growing!

Babies that are exposed to louder environments will have no problem sleeping at all. when my children were small, i would not hush up the whole house on purpose and I had a couple kids who would not even wake up if I ran the vacuum in the room with them. Kids are all individual, but I don't think the external noise will be a problem.

Listen, you want the noise at first - babies learn to sleep thru things like that if they're exposed to it from the beginning. It's when everyone tiptoes around shushing every noise that your baby will wake up at the drop of a pin. My friend's mom told her to go in and vaccuum the baby's room every time the baby naps - this way that kid could sleep thru anything - and he does! (I think he'd sleep thru the house falling down!!)

When you put your baby to sleep, turn on a fan or something that has "white noise" to it. Like a humming. This will make it so she will focus on that noise and only that noise. It is very calming.
My husband is a mechanic, and he always brings his work home with him. The drills and machines in the garage don't ever bother her now.
Good luck!

as long as the baby is exposed to it from day one, the baby will adapt to it and sleep thru it. my twins would go down for a nap around 11 and i would sweep, laundry, dishes (im known to drop them) mow lawn etc. they slept thru it all. if you make an ALL QUIET nap zone, the baby will then need all quiet forever. go about daily life. another good tip is to have a fan or other "white" noise on to help drown out the other.
