Oh, isn't it a crying shame that you had to raise minimum wage, which I dare you to live on! You could not even pay your mortgage!

I think the price of oil and it's impact in every area has a lot to do with rising prices!

Heaven forbid you would have to take additional money out of your profits to pay the people who made you them! Your profit is more important than people, and you use the excuse of actually having to pay someone a meager salary as the sole reason for incresed prices! Try a lousy economy built on DEBT!!

One-half of this countries families who filed income taxes make $25,000 or less! Bet most of you have never seen that bracket!

Go have a pity party, and try taking more from some of the obscene profits you make!

The oil companies are screaming about their infrastructure, their aging plants and the failure of about a third for the rising price of gas! How is it then they make the most profits in the world! I always though putting money back into you business and have a smaller profit was more beneficial than in the long run! Well that isn't the case anymore! Your answer is to pass it on to the consumer!

Companies use this as an excuse to raise prices which only need to be raised to keep the profits as high as possible. If the inc in min wage cost the company 50 cents per item they will raise the price $5 and blame labor costs. This is how it's done in capitalist society to make maximum profits off the working stiff. If the minimum wage were equivelant to what it was in the 60s in terms of buying power it would be over $13/hr. More backward steps for the working man.

I worked minimum wage while I was in high school and there was a reason: I was inexperienced and I really didn't have the ambition to do extensive training for a part time job while I went to school. However when I was a senior, I got a better job (as I had references from my first employer) and jumped up to $9/hour PLUS commission. I don't see why there are any adults who can't do the same if I was able to at 16. I'd rather not pay extra because some people don't have the ambition to seek work elsewhere (because if there were a shortage of employees, the wages would go up) but time will tell.

I'm not sure where you live, but where I live no one actually gets minimum wage. It's a few dollars above it. So even when by law they are raised, the going wage rate where I am isn't really affected and thus prices aren't either.

Some business will have to possible raise the price a dollar or a little under to make the difference its not going to put them out of business just yet...if they get spoiled kids that want top dollar for working a min. job, than yes they will go out of business, it will just be tougher!

every small business had to do this as well as major corporate businesses its all a part of being in a flawed government and inflation....plus i don't think Americans realize its all the same price in the long run because with there salary going up so does all the cars groceries and whatever else they want.

Well, almost 70% of jobs in America are in companies with fewer than 100 employees.
So while everyone shouts about Big Business, my little company will lay off one. Out of about 20 employess and Contract labor.
That is a 5% reduction in jobs right there.

I haven't seen a lot about increases but I have heard of people being given a thumbs up to find another job due to impending lay offs. Small business can't afford it..

You know, if these poor businesses didn't raise their prices higher than they need to, to compensate for minimum wage hikes, we wouldn't have to keep having them.
