Rather than me buying something from a garage is there any alternative i can use to protect the leather in my Peugoet 206cc?
Someone at work today told me to mix some Lenor and water together and rub this over the seats and then dry it with a soft cloth. Will this work? any help will be appreciated, want to keep the leather looking in its tip top condition.

The only way to protect leather is to use a good quality 'Leather Protector'.

Conditioners DO NOT protect leather and actually in many cases do more harm then good.

A leather protector acts like a scotchgard which will help inhibit dirt and oils from penetrating the leather and will also keep the leather in good condition. There are very few on the market that will do this.

LTT is a training company that supplies the technicians with product so their protector actually does what it is supposed to do and demonstrations of this are available.

Using other products that have been suggested will not work to protect your leather and in some cases will actually do harm to the finish which will only speed up its deterioration.

Cleaninf products should be water based foam cleaners that have been specifically tested for leathers. Anything containing waxes, oils or silicones should be avoided as these damage the finish.

Lenor might remove some dirt but may not keep the leather supple and feeling like leather. I recommend that you spend some money on AutoGlym leather cleaner and preservative. from memory it costs about £8 but in my opinion it does a first class job and only needs occasional applications. According to the Classic Car magazines most people who operate (and cherish) leather trimmed classic cars use a number of AutoGlym cleaners/polishes/preservatives for their vehicles. Remember, leather trim is an expensive option so it's worth using a good cleaner/preservative to keep it looking, feeling and smelling good.

You should be able to go to any auto supply store and purchase a leather conditioner.

I have a King Ranch F-150 and I get mine from the kingranch web site. It's about 7 or 8 dollars a bottle plus the shipping.

Clean with saddle soap and then use a good quality leather polish - be aware if you polish too much you slip around a lot - no fun in tight corners!

as far as getting dirt off leather all you need is glass cleaner and a scrub brush..not too firm of brissles. spray scrub than wipe off. i use to detail cars for a living and this is all you have to do. i have had to clean some dirty mess of a car before and this works perfect. lots of cleaning chemicals are to harsh and bill take off the dye in the leather.

You can get some leather wipes from Tesco, I use them on my leather sofas to keep them clean and to protect them. Don't see why they wouldn't work on car seats too

You can get a good leather conditioner at Halfords.. I use it on the Jag and it's looking fine even though it's 38 years old.
