my mom is going deaf. she just asked me would i rather go deaf or loss my eyesight? i han legal blind but i can still see.
i think i rather go deaf because you can learn signing and read lips if you were to loss your hearing but if you loss your sight you could not see anything. what do you thinik

sorry to hear about your mum. i would rather go deaf you can lip read sign, if you loss your sight not being able to see my grand children would be devastating.

Well, this would be the two of you who are losing something so that is a tough question. In a Special Education class I took it was proved that to be deaf is more of a handicap than no sight. Reason being is that when you are deaf you also cannot speak and you can't learn. Being blind, you can be educated. Make sense. I thought the same as everyone else until that course.

I definitely agree. Eyesight is more important than hearing. The federal government agrees: worker's compensation provides more money for loss of eyesight than for loss of hearing.

I agree with you, I am losing some of my eyesight, I hate it, Hearing is no big deal, it just means I do not have to hear people talk bad anymore.

Each has it's own challenges. I guess if I had to choose I'd rather have sight than hearing.
