It's not at all like you would expect.
Yes it is a racy lifestyle and no it is not more respectful to have an affair.
Most swingers think of it as adding a sex swing or vibrator... it's just something they enjoy.
There are so many impressions given on TV and in the media that are nothing like what it is...
Granted, you have to be amoral to do this or you will feel very guilty.
It has been my experience that it is jealous people who have the toughest time with this... people who are insecure and of course very religious people(many of whom I admire).
I know many couples who swing who are closer than any monogamous couples I know. They are also some of the nicest people.
You would be surprised how many people you know that do this. Many of them are very prominent in your community.
On a personal note, it's more fun than you can imagine! Take the fun of sex and multiply it by 100 and you will have swinging.
I have to admit I no longer swing because I do believe it is wrong... but we shouldn't judge.

I don't think that either one is ok. However, I do know people that are into the swinging lifestyle, and it isn't what you think it is. Yes, it is obvioulsy sexual, but there are rules and boundaries that they have. First, both people in the relationship have discussed it and decided that they want to do it. They practice safe sex, and always know who their spouse is going to be with. They have a whole little society of other swingers that the interact with - never with strangers.
Cheating to me is worse. Cheating isn't so much about the act of sex as much as it is the act of deception. When you are cheating, you are leading your spouse to believe that you are being faithful and committed. You aren't giving them the option of saying "no". I don't understand how that is at all respectful!??
Just my thoughts....I prefer being in a committed relationship, and having great sex with one special person. I am hopeful that will happen for me again sometime in the near future!!!!

Okay...let's think about this...just because your partner knows, makes it okay? Huh? What is wrong with this picture, people??? Does this not indicate some strange behaviors on the part of both spouses. One does the dirty because the other one knows it (and perhaps is there). Why would a spouse permit the other spouse to sleep with someone else!! My co-worker and her husband have done this for years (they've been married for 14 years), now she is having an affair with someone else, can't understand why he's upset since they are "swingers" and their now getting a divorce. Did I mention they have three children together???
People need to think with their heads and not their genitals. Maybe there wouldn't be some many divorces!

Cheating is cheating no matter what game or sexy phrase u attach to it. If u have a desire to b with other people, u shouldn't be married. Marriage is sacrificial and monogamous relationship, if that can be upheld, then stay or get single. I find it disheartening about the society we live in. To know that basic morals are being thrown to the wayside bc of selfishness, greed, and lust. We live in a time were we don't want to sacrifice or give anything up. We want to eat our cake and eat it to. It's a sad reality and I worry for the children that I want to have; what kind of world will this be in 20-25 yrs when they want to marry?!

I think in swinging, it started with willingness of both couples to join and have in-exchange of sexual partners with another couples. In cheating, it's a secrete having extra-affair of one spouse without knowledge of another spouse.
Otherwords, swinging is both couples had enjoyed sexually but cheating only one spouse enjoyed.
Therefore, swinging is better than cheating.

Cheating involves lying. There is nothing respectful or honorable about lying. No one "uses" anyone else in swinging, its by mutual consent. And most swinging clubs require married or committed partners only. If you have a "secret" affair, you are keeping it secret only because you are too cowardly to tell your spouse the truth.

swinging and cheating are not the same thing. its not cheating if you have sex with someone with the consent and likely the presence of your significant other. it can only be cheating if you are doing something behind their back without their knowledge. now if your question was about having mutliple sex partners and how you dont like that, that would be a different issue but saying cheating is cheating and applying that to a non consensual behind the back act and a consensual act doesnt make sense.

Give me the name of the swinging couple and I will call them some names. Both are sins and should be blasted for doing that.

Let me put it this way...
I'm not saying swinging is "better" than anything, but at least (ideally) it is by MUTUAL CONSENT as opposed to sneaking around.

I don't think either is ok. I believe in monogamy and commitment to one person. I find it to be very romantic and attractive if a person can actually be faithful. It also shows that they have self control which is sexy!
