Yes. It's the organization you need to join. It will keep you current.... and give you entree into the world where it's happening. I'm not big on labels (or letters)... as I'm a firm believer that your reputation supercedes 'any' affiliation..and conversely, letters are no guarantee of success... however, that being said... this is a highly competitive field and highly integrated and most democratic in terms of learning from peers (and masters:).. You want the network, information and contacts it will afford you. I believe student membership is quite affordable... check it out!

It's a wonderful organization and I wish you so much good luck!!!!!

Yes..it's worth it...if you are in area where designers can command the respect the ASID designation gives you...
Working for a high-end furniture store (like I did for 16 years as an interior designer) will likely help you to quickly build your client base...
For some reason, people think seeing "letters" after your name (like ASID) gives you more of a professional "look" and therefore edge...even when they have no idea what the letters stand for
(especially like in real estate...where I guarrantee you more than half of people have no CLUE what those designations..."letters"..
stand for..I happen to be both, a real estate broker and an interior designer (retired)
