I hate to break it to you, but in my 10 years of directing and producing films I have never used a website to find my talent. I go directly through agencies, or find people on cragslist, youtube, and myspace.
I have heard of several companies that offer web portfolios and how they scam people, one that was big a few years ago was Options Talent.

If you really want to break into the biz, get out there and get your face seen !! Look at local play houses, local indie film. Film commissions that are close to you might be able to help you out in your quest. I know I have found extras through our film commission. Craigslist is another way to search for jobs to get your face seen.

I hope you haven't paid the standard rate of $500+ to be posted on a website. Yes the site looks great, but anyone can scan a magazine cove, post it on their site and say we have placed models there. Only the people who are legit through the better business bureau, and have a solid history of getting their clients work are the places you want to visit.

There is no harm in putting your face out there, provided:
1. You pay NOTHING to do so. If they get you a role and take a commission, let them do so AFTER you get paid. You're the talent.
2. You create a professional email account where you can filter out the weirdos. They're there. They'll offer amazing stuff. You need to put buffers in place to keep them from bugging you.

All the best.

This is one of many scams out there. If you were ready to act professionally you would have known that. You would have learned how the business works in acting school.
