Check with your pediatrician. The fact he was a big baby, they might want you to change formula to something low calorie or thin it some or add cereal to it but keep it at a lower amount. Sometimes feeding more doesn't keep them from being hungry, and they need a few spoons of the cereal.

You want to be very careful since your baby was large to prevent if from ending up diabetic or with weight problems. Make sure you consult your pediatrician regarding changes to the babys diet. One phone call will not take you long, and it is better to get the doctors advice than the advice from a bunch of people on the internet.

If he is still hungry after 5 oz try 6 oz. He will let you know if he is full. Around 6-7 weeks babies hit a growing spurt too. He may be ready for more. Don't fret as babies are not known for over eating, especially if he was on the bigger side at birth. My son at 7 weeks was only eating 3-4 oz but he also weighed 2 lbs less than yours at birth! Good luck hun and congrats on the little one!

If the baby is easily finishing the 5 oz bottle each time then you need to make them 6 oz. Then once the baby is easily finishing the 6 oz bottles every time you will add another oz. and so on.

My son was 9 pounds 2 oz at birth he ate a good amount as well.

My son is 6 months old and he only eats 5 oz at a time, every 3 hours. It really depends on your baby.

If he acts like he is still hungry when he gets done with the bottle, try upping his feeding by 1/2 ounce. Watch his behavior and make sure he isn't umcomfortable or anything, because if he eats too much, it will give him a tummy ache. Sometimes at that young they don't know when they are full and keep eating.

However, if your baby eats every 3 hours, i'd say its normal and you can keep him at 5 oz for now.

If your baby seems like he's still hungry after feeding him the 5 oz, then I would say to bump it up to 6 oz. He was a big baby when he was born, therefore, he needs more food then other babies his age would, but its totally okay, I mean, every baby is different.. But feeding him more would be the solution..

Good Luck :o)

He'll still be hungry and cranky when he's finished the bottle. Trust me, you'll know! Babies are good at telling you what they need and when they need it. Good luck!
