I had been on the depo shot off and on since i was about 15...im now 19 yearz old and no longer on the shot....Before i got on depo I was about 117 and no matter how much I ate or how litrtle i exercised I never really gained weight...after the depo i gained about 70 poundz!!! (yep, a total night mare) and every 3 months when i went to get my shot when they would weigh me i would alwayz have gained 5-10 poundz....now that im off the shot, i notice that my weight is a little more stable (im not gaining) and i dont feel as bloated as i did before....is it possible that the shot slowed down my metabolism? and also a lot of ppl that hav been on the shot have told me that the weight they gained came off...is this true?

any self experience or any info u have will be greatly appreciated...thanx!!! ♥

The shot does make women gain weight, whether its because of appetite increase or just one of the lovely affects of the shot.

After I thankfully got off the shot my weight is stable as well and slowly coming off.

My personal experience - I was on depo for 6 years. I decided to stop it, and in a few months gained 60 lbs. I didn't know what had happened! I asked my dr and they did not have an answer for me. Now, a few years later, my husband are trying for a baby. I went to have tests done, and found out I have PCOS. They said that since I was on depo, the symptoms of this were non-existent, since depo evens out your hormones if you have PCOS. I was told the weight I gained after was because all of a sudden, my hormones were very off, and that made me gain the weight so fast.
I am not trying to scare you and say that you might have PCOS, but anytime I hear someone talking about how they gained weight after depo, instead of most that loose weight, I just have to tell them my story. Hopefully your situation isn't as serious. I would consult with your dr.

From what you say it sounds like a yes but it doesn't really matter now that you are off the medication just start exercising or running
