I am thinking about becoming a mary kay consultant, but just to get the products for less!
I do not want to sell, but use it myself!
Can it work?
Anyway, how does it work? Is there a minimum I have to order from time to time? How much less would it cost to get the products?
Can anyone help me out?

Thanks!
C.

Hi C.,

You can sign up for Mary Kay just for personal use. They don't advertise this because they want people selling the products not just using them. I have friends that place an annual order around Christmas since you have to place a $200 order to get 50% off. You get $400 worth of merchandise for the $200 price so at Christmas time you can get what you want plus do some of your Christmas shopping. You do not have to have inventory on hand. I hold shows and take internet orders as well as catalogue shows and I have no inventory at all. Some people try to get people who sign up under them to place huge inventory orders but its not mandatory and you can do well without an inventory. If you have anymore questions feel free to get in touch with me.

In order to get the products for 50% off, you will only need to spend $200. Figure out what all you need or want and total it all up, multiply your tax on it and then divide by 2. You do have to pay for tax and shipping. Shipping is always $8.75 no matter the weight of the shipment. When you sign up it is a $100 fee. That start up fee gets you several items that is worth over $300! I added up just the skin care line alone and it was over $300 and that doesn't include the other stuff that comes with the starter kit!

To get 1/2 price goes for anyone who signs up. You'll find people needing something and you can sell it to them but you do not have to have classes or anything else to get the product 1/2 off. Also, you do NOT have to purchase any inventory.

Mary Kay reports to the IRS your quarterly statements. All you have to do is go to your MK website and submit your weekly accomplishment when you purchase from yourself or when someone buys from you. Then at the end of the year, you go to your personal website and print off your tax information already prepared by Mary Kay and take it to your accountant. Everything you sell and use is a tax deduction. Where your product sits is a write off and many more deductions.

The product compacts haven't changed in several years. I have one compact that I have had 7+ years and the new colors fit in it. Other products do not change that often.

You do not have to sell from a book or have classes. You conduct your MK business they way YOU want. No expectations, no sales quotas, nothing. You do with it the way you want.

My sister does exactly what you are wanting to do and it works perfect for her. She services her kids, a few co-workers, and herself. However, when she signed five years ago she originally got in just for the discount and not to sell to anyone. However, after a year or so people she personally knows goes through her to buy. Outside of that, she doesn't do anything with it and that's exactly what Mary Kay is designed for. Do with it as you want.

As for me, I'm head strong in it and growing rapidly and that is my personal decision for my MK business. I can give you more info if you'd like http://www.marykay.com/michelle.zimmerman

My understanding is that there is a minimum sales required... why don't you check out their website...I think there's a place you can sign up to be contacted - then ask detailed questions when someone calls you...

The makeup IS kind of expensive, but it's also high quality. I love the products from Mary Kay, even though I use minimal makeup.

There's almost no way. You have to have a lot of customers to succeed. My experience from Avon, lost a lot of time and money. Thank God I gave up and found another way. Jennifer
