first you have to find out where they getting in. then make sure any other holes are closed. take netting and hang down from spot they going in and out. tape the top and the two sides but leave enough slack so when bats come out they can get out the bottom but not back in. Wait a few nights then go up and close off the hole.

Very carefully....just kidding
if you know when they come and go, wait till they go (usually around dusk) Then throw a few boxes of mothballs (open) into the attic by the time they get back (dawn) the fumes will be really strong and they will not like it.
I have never used this on bats, but it works for other critters.
but...Bats are really beneficial, if they are not bothering anyone, I'd leave them alone. (also check the laws in your state/locality, some bat species are protected., some city agencies (animal control) will have good advice on handling bats and/or they will re-locate them for you at no charge.
Good luck!

You need to call rodent disposal and have it done professionally.

The bat guano (dung) is really, really, bad for your health and could cause Histoplasmosis.
