i put my compost into a bucket on e tree branch and ants are still getting into it is it bad if you have ants in your compost pile or in my case bucket.

Ants aren't bad. They are likely attracted to sweet fruit in the bucket.

But a bucket is too small for compost. A compost pile should be about 3ft square and high with a mixure of both kitchen scraps (attracts ants) and yard waste (no ants). As it heats up and works, the ants will stay away.

a bucket is too small to make compost. once a pile gets going, it will get too hot for the ants to hang around.
