I'll start. I'm a republican and I would willingly trade my freedoms for safety.

Our President Bush sure is. Those libs need to quit whining about the lack of security at American borders and think about President Bush's Legacy and Iraq!

I thought a desire for small government was part of being a conservative. The term "Liberals" has generally meant folks who desire a very large government to fix problems, whereas "Conservatives" meant wanting freedom from a large, controlling federal government. But this question seems to imply that Conservatives want a police state.

If we don't care about freedoms, then we should just make the US an extreme Islamic nation, with the Taliban in control. Then they won't attack us. Better yet, if you want a nation without freedom, then go there -- there are many to choose from. But don't come here and denounce the sacrifices that American fighting men and women have made to save our freedom and bring it to others. Great America chose freedom over security when we beat back the Nazi's and I for one think that was a very good thing.

It is freedom we are protecting. President Bush has cited the quest for freedom numerous times in explaining the Iraq invasion. If you don't want to be free, go live in China with the other pinkos.

I'm not. Hear me out, I'm being respectful.

I'm also not tired of you fighting for our troops and the war.

Now I AM tired of the sedition, the name-calling, the rumor-mongering, and the "guilty until proved innocent" treatment our representatives keep going through.

Democrats and Republicans serve different purposes in our country. Taking out the political bigots (wouldn't we all like to? But they have free speech, too), the two parties serve as gas and brakes, both needed no matter what direction we go. They serve a function.

Don't get tired of it. Expect it. When they go totally silent you should start worrying. BIG TIME.

The same for me. When I hear your voice go silent, expect me to come running. I will. We can't afford to lose our military or those who support it.

I will never tire of your cry for justice and protection for our country. I may put the brake on it (not in THIS war, however), but I trust in the intelligence of the people of the United States to add their voices to the side most in line with reality without trying to silence the other.

Keep speaking up, everyone. It makes us stronger.

Especially speak up with the seditious, the socialists, those who attack our representatives because they aren't the puppets they would like them to be.

Be a patriot. Put your country first, whatever you believe.

I certainly am. But not because I'll trade freedom for safety, as Benjaman Franklin once said, "They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety."

What they are calling freedom is really a lack of responsibility, and often just a lack of common sense. Thier big thing is privacy and I have to wonder what it is that they do in private that they are so ashamed of?

Good. Since you take your freedoms so lightly why don't you move to North Korea or Afganistan. You'll have no problems with bad ol' freedom there.

Freedom was the foundation of this country. If you had chicken crap for brain, you'd appreciate it.

I'd rather die free than live restrained.

Dissent is the highest form of patriotism. Anyone who disagrees with dissent spits in the very face of our founding forefathers and should themselves move to France or Canada as they obviously have no interest in American values.

YOU hate America.

You are crying right now. No solutions, just hate and tears.

I never tire of liberals loving American freedom enough to want to protect it when it is under seige. Never.

I am with you all the way!.Liberals talk about "the Constitution" and "civil liberties" as if they believe they have a right to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures and that that right shall not be violated, and no warrants shall be issued, but upon probable cause, supported by oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.
You never know where these liberals get their far out idea's,that's why we need fox news and talk radio to really keep us informed without liberal spin like truth or facts.

actually I think the person who's crying the most about freedom is our leader, George Dubya Bush.

Didn't he say once (and many times since), "The terrorists want to get us because they're jealous of our freedom?"

So I'm paraphrasing a bit, perhaps...

I am more tired of people like you crying that "the terrorists are gonna killl me". I am not a coward who would trade what makes America great so people like you can feel "safe". You are more likely to die from 1,000 different causes before "the terrorists" get you, and you will die, I guarantee it.
