Marshmallow is commonly used to help cut back on nicotine cravings. You can find the plant in the form of tea or capsules at almost any drug store or natural pharmacy. If you choose to take the capsules, start with two to three 3x daily with meals, and then gradually cut back the dosage. Tea can be taken also two to three times per day, or as needed. Don't continue taking it for more than two weeks at a time, although there are no side effects, it is always safe when taking any herbal supplement to give your body a break. When my mom was trying to quit, I gave her some marshmallow tea and she claimed that it helped her tremendously. It flushes out toxins and helps with cravings. Some other herbs that may help due to their detoxification qualities are: dandelion root, yellowdock, sarsparilla, licorice root, burdock, and cayenne acts as a catalyst.

Have you tried a Yahoo search for "herbal remedies" + smoking (OR nicotine)?

Tell him to read "The Easy Way to stop smoking" by Allen Carr. its the only way to quit. I quit about 3 months ago and suffered no withdrawal.
