They call it the power of association. You will become like those you are with the most. They say be careful of the friends you choose, those you group with. There are leaders and followers. Followers tend to want to comform, be accepted, change to their environments. If your like this your prone to be like those you associate with. Leaders rarely change and only to adjust their path to match their desires. A leader can be any form of dominate personality. So the next time your changing your actions, take note and make sure the dominate personailty of the ones your around or peer pressure is what you want, run if it is not what you want.

That's not 100% true.
People with common interests tend to hang together and perhaps SOME habits (both good and bad) might rub off on an individual I don't think it completely alters a person's personaility unless they want it to. And it definitely doesn't apply solely to women.

Maybe the same can be said for the other person as well. People (no matter what gender) are attracted to each other because of need, greed, power, and status. Often one person sees something in the other person they don't have and figure if they emulate that person's lifestyle they will acquire it as well.

I think whoever this woman is she probably has low self esteem and feels like she needs to fit in with other people's hobbies to feel like she's a friend. But that's not really true, you don't have to have the same interests as someone else to be friends

Well, she probably admires this friend and wants to be like her, or she may be jealous, and tries to steal her thunder. There's an old saying, however, that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. (I should have said this to the poor lady in design school, who had one of her projects stolen, and the thief claimed originality and blamed the woman as the thief. )

All of your answers before mine were right on the money...they are ALL correct...
You do NOT need to be "just like" someone to be their friend..in fact, it's MORE fun if you're not...
What if we were ALL the same? Would that not be boring?
Variety is "the spice of life"...
People of both genders do what you describe..it is not central to women...although I find it sad when they do "mimick" each other...people should get a "life"...their OWN!!!!!

Women and men alike can experience this. Pressures to belong, as well as unconscious learning of these behaviors can trigger this.

"Birds of a feather flock together" and "monkey see, monkey do". That's why people should pick their friends carefully.
