Was running OK then revs seemed to slow and it started running really lumpy and jumping about it's frame. Still starts fine and there are no nasty noises suggesting bearings or anything like that. Has anyone out there had a similar problem?
I feel 99% sure it something in the carb but I thought I would post here before I start ripping it to bits.

It sure sounds like a fuel issue. I would check the tank, lines and filter. Most likely the carburator will have to come off and be cleaned. I like to soak them in a good carb cleaner, not the spray stuff, and put them back together with a rebuild kit. Makes them run like new.

That's why they stopped making it. They said they wanted a 'quieter' gen, but we all know it's because the Ex1000 wasn't up to speed and couldn't compete with the newer generator Yamaha was coming out with. The EU1000 was the first of Honda's new generation of quiet generators, although its been out about five years. It runs longer too.
