I like things I don't have to install and that if I move I can take with me.. I saw at Bed Bath and Beyond an "extra" bar that hangs from your existing bar, so you have two tiers of storage for hanging items.. It's a snap to use and take down.. There's no hardware/assembly.. You can use one or more depending on the length of the bar.. Also, think "outside the closet" I have underbed storage containers under all our beds and I store sheets/linens and out of season clothes under there.. You can also get bed lifts that raise the bed 4-7 inches and have even more storage. They cost roughly $9.99-$12.99.. I also use those hanging shoe organizers, but I used them inside our coat closet to store kids shoes. I also LOVE space bags I have a small cedar chest packed with about 4 seasons worth of clothes... Also, just changing the type of hanger you use can increase closet space A LOT.. I have thin velvet lined hangers from BB&B that take up much less room than traditional plastic hangers they come in many colors and the clothes don't drop off.... Don't forget your BB&B coupons you can use up to 5 in one transaction and they can be expired.... Good luck

Walmart has the white wire racks which support tons of weight. They are easy to shorten and they sell them in different lengths. For like $15 I had a 8 foot long rack to hang shirts or pants from with a top big enough for 100 sweaters or so. LOL.

Check out walmart.
