Avoid alcohol and OTC drugs until you get a list of approved drugs from your doc. Avoid second hand smoke, or quit smoking if you smoke yourself. Eat healthily, fruits and veggies, appropriate servings etc. If you have a strenuous workout routine, put it on hold until you consult your doc, but if you just do normal exercise, keep it up. If you don't have an exercise routine, it wouldn't help to start walking 30 mins a day.
Go ahead and start a Folic Acid vitamin. Your doc will give you an RX for a prenatal vitamin but the most important component is the folic acid.
Just take care of yourself and congratulations!!!

Everybody worries about what they were doing before they found out they were pregnant (partying and whatnot). Just relax, enjoy this happy moment.

Eat right; increase your folates by drinking a cup of OJ each day, get more calcium in your diet and more fish (there are fish that are not good for pregnant women). Begin taking a multi-vitamin until you get your prenatal ones and try to get plenty of sleep. You can also continue to exercise, just don't over-exert yourself. Biking and swimming would be best. Avoid hot tubs, steam rooms, saunas, high impact and contact sports. The stronger and healthier you are - the better for your baby.

Do your best to enjoy this experience!! Best of luck!

Take prenatal vitiams. You can get them at wal mart or a pharmacy. Also be very careful with yourself from now to about three mnths are the key months to have a miscarriage. By falling or getting too uset so take good care of yourself and get plenty of rest. Remember your body is adjusting and changing because there is someone special inside of you! Congradulations.

Eat healthy, get at least 7-8 hours sleep a night. Don't lift anything heavy or overexert yourself. Typically, if you're in an established workout regiment, you can continue, but just take care -

Congrats! I have to say I agree with jnn_south, plus she was funny. My suggestion different than every one else is to also be prepared for the sickness. Hopefully it won't be bad for you, but if it does you should try the acupressure wristbands. Trust me, I wear them 24/7. Otherwise I would be at home hugging the toilet. You can get them at a drugstore. No one told me, my doc had me taking a prescription, but this is better. Good Luck!

Get plenty of rest. Start taking over-the-counter Prenatal vitamins, and start eating healthy, limit caffine, and do not drink alcohol or take any medications. ( except tylenol)

Just don't drink, don't smoke, drink lots and lots of water and eat as many fruits and veggies as you can. Also protein & fiber are good for you, especially fiber to keep you regular so you don't get constipated and get hemmroids! Your doc will give you prenatals and probably Omega3's too.

Start taking your vitamins now, drink plenty of water and start yourself on a calcium supplement. A lot of women lose their teeth (or they deteriorate) because that baby takes the calcium away
