We used to have Dish Network for several years but switched to Direct TV about 3 years ago. There were more channels and a lower price and we had already used our "new members only" options with Dish. Both are good but I really prefer Direct TV packages & pricing.
You asked this question in TIVO & DVR category? This is BEST thing ever invented! You can record individual shows, set up season passes to record every episode (1st run or all including re-runs), record pay per view movies etc. No more tapes, programming vcr's etc. It's a snap! LOVE IT!
We have several programs set up to record for us so we can watch on our schedule, including all the Nascar races. Fast forward through all the commercials ans B.S. and cut the wasted time at the TV in HALF!
Another great thing is now & then the weather messes up the satilite signal, you've got all kinds of stuff saved in your TIVO to kill the time while you wait for the signal. It takes pretty bad weather to do this though.

I've had dish network for years and years now, and at first I really liked it, but now I've decided to switch to Direct TV. Reasons why are: Whenever a strong breeze blows it loses reception, and then your stuck there all night waiting for it to come back and it doesn't. Also I really like the CW Network and they don't have a contract with them, so its not possible to get them as a local channel. I've also had problems with them "accidentaly" adding sport packages to my bill about every year and it wouldn't bother me except for the 200 price tag. I'd say to check out your options with Direct TV as well.

i've got been with DirectTV for very virtually 10years now and that i will by no capacity swap. the shopper provider is spectacular, greater HD channels, unique NFL cost ticket and so lots greater. As somebody else suggested it would desire to be a tad greater high priced than Dish, although that's actually particularly worth it. And touching directly to the guy complaining touching directly to the DVR and the timer it is not DTV it relatively is at fault it relatively is the community intentionally working the coach over so which you will not use your DVR and pass the commercials. All you will desire to do is desperate up your DVR to checklist an further 10 minutes or so and it is not a controversy. weeder

I got sucked into Dish Networks add of "ONLY $19.99 a month", and when it got to $89.99, I bailed. Yep, they do have 200+ channels, but only 10 good ones. I wouldn't recommend Dish to any one, no one there is going to drive a cadillac on My money, let them drive "Yugo"s". I am pretty sure all other providers are the same, just My opinion.

We had dish network and switched to direct tv. However, the services are about the same and I think dish is a little less expensive.

I do, and honestly it sucks. The channels are separated, including many channels which cut out many shows. Its a waste of money. Cable is much better. Also at times, when the weather is bad, screen freezes and blurs out. I hate dish network. One more thing, if you like baseball, they blackout all games, which for some reason pisses me off.

DirecTv. It's cheaper than Charter cable! Sure,it quits in really bad weather but we've gotten used to it! It also has a few channels that cable here doesn't offer! Have a nice day! ;-)=
