Try going to BJ's Wholesale/Sam's Club/Costco but, do it early or call them to see when they get deliveries and pick up the boxes.. You don't have to be a member to take boxes. Also, check with offices that use copy machines and chances are they get the really nice copypaper boxes with lids those are nice for books.. They may give you boxes as well... Also, try freecycle.org look in your area and someone may have boxes for you... Good luck

If you are on a limited budget, free moving boxes are fine. BUT, keep in mind that you are putting your belongings that you paid good money for in USED boxes that may have contained any number of dirty or unhealthy things or may have been stored in area where bugs or rodents may have been present. Yuck! Used boxes may not be as strong as you might need because they were designed to contain different products, not your belongings! Big box stores often have small supplies of boxes and will not have specialty boxes such as mirror or wardrobe boxes. One broken TV can cost more than buying quality new moving boxes for an entire home. Having them delivered to your door for free saves you the additional time, gas and frustration. If you depend on public transportation or live in an apartment building, you will likely agree! Buy quality to avoid waste, damage and disappointment. Moving is stressful enough!

Any rental store offers moving boxes of all sizes. Also truck and trailer rental stores. They are usually sold in packs and last I looked appeared reasonable. Free ones are usually what you can get from supermarkets if you ask.

I found some great ones at local computer stores. They are very sturdy and were free. All I had to do was ask.
