Just like everything in life if you have never done it you should not down it.
Sushi is great!, You have to be somewhat open to new experiences to enjoy it. I suggest you start out with "hand rolls"; these are prepared with sauces mixed in and not just raw fish. Stay away from "sashimi" which is straight raw fish until you have enjoyed what you have tried. You should start with California rolls, Las Vegas rolls, Philadelphia rolls. By the way: most tyeps of fresh fish do not smell fishy (few do), if you ever get a fishy odor I suggest you pass on it.
P. S. Don't be shy when you are there and ask the suggestion of the sushi chefs, that is what they know...

i thought i would never like sushi and now i love it! The first time I tried it though still did not convinve me, it took eating it a few times to realize that I actually did enjoy it. I would start with the California Roll if I were you, something pretty simple. My favorite is the spicy tuna roll, which is also a good one for a first try. Dip it in soy sauce mixed with a little wasabi. The spider roll is good too! Also, I like to eat sushi with wine.

sushi is fantastic, but can be a little "trying" for a first timer. I'd recomend tuna, sea bass, red snapper, shrimp is good too, others, like octopuss are very tough and chewy, mackeral is very strong tasting, and I'd avoid any type of roe (fish eggs) for now.
mix a little of the green spicy ginger into some soy sauce and mix it well ( a small dish is provided for this use) dip the sushi in, let it set for a couple of seconds and enjoy. If you go with others, you can see what they order, try small bites of everything. You'll be amazed at the tastes, and learn what you don't like too.

Try tempura, it's shrimp, and the Cali roll. those are good starters for a beginning experience. Work from there. I go to the Thai rest. and order sushi because there is a description of all the dishes, and what type of sauce it's marinated in.

Start out with something that's not raw like a spider roll which is a soft shell crab roll that's really yummy or a Cali roll then work you're way up. Sushi can be scary at first but its not as scary as you think. ENJOY :)

try something you know first, for example if you like tuna or salmon, try those first
and I suggest a cut roll rather than sushi for your first time
enjoy!

Well first of all sushi is absolutely disgusting hello you can get like fifty different diseases. But I still really like it so I would suggest the california roll. It's great but, don't be surprised if you get sick I have like three times.
