He's a male rabbit. Rabbit is just very meticulous about keeping his house clean and garden just so so. The apron is from cleaning around his house can cooking, etc.
And sometimes they use a robe to indicate sleeping.

As far as I know Rabbit is male, they just for whatever reason have him wearing a pink robe and rollers in his ears.

I saw an episode and when they spoke to Rabbit, they said he. I guess he's a male rabbit with an "alternative lifestyle" (trying to stay politically correct)!

well...he's male definitely...illustrations from A.A. Milne who is the author of winnie the pooh and Disney both suggest this... sometimes they just add details for the specific cartoon..they have coloured his fur green once..
