I thought this was an interesting article and study conducted.

What would you do? Return it or keep it?

And if you are one who would say keep it, why would you keep it? What if you lost one, would you care if someone else was like you and kept it? Wanting to understand what motivates the "keepers".

Thought it was interesting that one of the keepers on the study was a "grandmother". Wonder what she was going to do with a cellphone...LOL

That's nice to hear from everyone! My own conscience would be my worst enemy...I could never live with myself...LOL

I'd call the numbers on the phone and find out who it belonged to. Then I'd contact them and return it.

If that didn't work, I'd turn it over to the company (Sprint, Verizon, whatever) and have them trace it.

I might clear the phone numbers in the memory just in case it went wandering again.

Once I saw this girl drop her cell phone at a concert and I chased her for about a half hour to give it back.
If I lost my cell phone I would hope that someone would give it back.

I'd give it back. What would be the point of using someone else's cell phone? Besides the fact that it is stealing and is illegal, most phones have chips in them that make them easy to trace back to the user's location.

Absolutely, I've returned a couple that I've found (one at the gym, one in a rental car). I don't trust that I would ever get mine returned if I lost it though so I've invested in the software that protects all the data stored on it.

BTW, how old was the "grandmother"? There are an awful lot of tech savvy grandmothers in their 40-60s.

Hopefully, they would call their phone. Once they did that, I would ask them for their name and address so I could ship it back to them. If they didn't call for their phone, I'd probably give it away to one of my family members, because I don't like used cell phones!

I thought that was really interesting... and I thought most grandmother's didn't like cellphones... haha. I would probably return it, or maybe leave it where it was, because I don't use a cellphone and I don't think I would feel the need to start using one, even if I could have it for free.

I found one. I turned it on and searched the address book for "home" and then called the number and left message on the answering machine that I had the cell phone and to call me.

Turns out it belonged to my oil delivery guy! His boss (company cell) was happy to have it returned.

I would give the cell phone back to the rightful owner.

Yes. I agree with the part in the article when it says that some people feel naked without their cell phone. That's me.

Lmao, I just did this last weekend. I was at the club and found one. I tried to call the numbers in contacts to give it back, but they never came and got it, so I kept it. Then 2 weeks later they called for it, and then they shut it off.
