The first person who comes to mind is Mrs. Weasley. She performed a powerful, deadly magic that killed Bellatrix. Perhaps this is what JK was referring to...not just ordinary magic, but powerful, unexpected magic that could take down a powerful force like Bellatrix. I for one wasn't expecting Mrs. Weasley to take down Bellatrix.

i would want to know that too. at first i thought it would be petunia, but they don't say anything about her after the dursleys leave.
there are also a lot of questions she didn't answer in this book. but i heard she will write an encyclopedia. maybe she'll give the answers to some of the little mysteries.

I have seen this question many times... and not once has there been a satisfactory answer to it on the list. We might have to wait until Jo starts doing interviews again. (Obviously, she's probably not doing them now because people would ask her questions that'd spoil it for people who haven't read the book.)

I've been wondering that myself. No one pops into my into my mind. Maybe it was one of the new characters that she introduced in the new books, she just forgot to mention that fact in the book or maybe cut that part out.

i think it was supposed to be dudley, because he became all kind and able to 'love' which, as dumbledore says is the most powerful kind of magic. so it was dudley's way of showing this talent very late in the series.

Likewise; I thought it was going to be HP's Aunt; but not so - or was it an oversight?
