If you go to your router's control panel (try typing 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1 into a web browser) and enter the default password (likely admin or netgear) you should see an option for wireless security.

You want to use WPA (and with a very long random string such as one from https://www.grc.com/passwords.htm) as WEP can be very easily cracked) - What I do is copy paste the long string to a text file which I save on a USB flash drive, then I just copy that string into each computer that I need to connect to the wifi.

I hope that helps

You can usually find your WEP key in the configuration GUI that you can connect to via your Internet Explorer or Firefox.

Usually the address is 192.168.1.1 but it may vary depending on what brand or router you have etc. Look in your router's manual for the exact address to access your router from your computer.

Once inside your router through the GUI you should be able to navigate to security or wireless security and that will usually have some kind of direction as to where to go to get your WEP key.

I've never used a NetGear wireless router before so I don't know what the GUI looks like or if it even is a GUI maybe it is a CLI but either way you should be able to look up in your router's manual the way to access your router via your computer.

Let me try to decipher what you want to know.

You have a Netgear WGR614 v6 wireless router.

You are asking for the WEP Key password. WPA has a preshare key, WEP does not.

You probably need the log in password for the router itself. If you have changed the log in password as you are directed to do and now do not know what it is, you cannot get in. However you can reset to factory default and start over with the default password and reconfigure. Check the Netgear site for your specific unit if you wish to do this.

I suggest you try the factory default password first.

Once logged in you can change the encryption.

the only way to find your wep key is to login to your router's setup page.i think the followiing thing will work.go to command prompt and type "ipconfig".
note down the "default gateway".
type the gateway address on the internet explorer address bar.
go to wireless settings-->wireless security and check your wep key entry.
then try using it your computer

It is usually printed on the bottom of the unit. The serial number and WEP should both be there.

use the link below. it'll only work if you have a compatible wireless card and you need to be constantly downloading stuff in order to get enough data to crack it.
