I've done this before, it could be an idication that you placed the tampon in too far, not far enough or too fast; however, when I do this the pain goes away after I have inserted the tampon. It could also be that the tampon is too wide or long for you, I have also found that using a smaller tampon, like platex help alleviate discomfort. I suggest experimenting with smaller tampons until you find one that is comfortable for you.

It could be part of your menstraul cycle that is causing you to experience the abdominal pains later on, after it has been inserted.

If you are consider, I suggest consulting with an OB/GYN.

You may be experiencing ovarian or uterine cysts. They can be painful during sex or while trying to insert a tampon. Try pointing the tampon towards the small of your back when inserting, go slowly, no jamming. You may also have an inverted uterus, which means that it points towards your belly button and not your back. If changing the angle of the tampon during insertion doesn't help, then by all means, go in for a good pelvic exam by an OBGYN doctor, not a general practitioner.

Be safe and smart.

Put the aplicator in just enough so its a couple centimeters left to where you fingers are holding on to it. then after you press the thing to put it in its far enough so when you toucxh down there you should be Able to get up to half on your fingernail in before you feel the tampon. also make sure your not using a tampon too big for you

Sounds like you may not be pushing it up far enough as long as you can get to the string don't worry about it being to far up. The cramps just could be period related ask your mom to give you some Tylenol or Advil or midol. Good luck

I suggest trying some different tampons until you find one that fits you the best. They even make junior ones.

If it hurts it is not in properly. Take it out and try again.
