I'm doing a debate and my stand is life is more important that dignity.
Does anyone have a story to suggest relating to this?

Depends on what you mean by dignity. If I was told to humiliate myself by a terrorist who would shoot me if I did not comply, and it was just me, that's one thing. But if they demanded I spit on the flag, or do something horrible to someone else, I hope I would have the courage to resist.

Personally, I would admire someone who stood up to anyone who tried to humiliate him, and feel pity for anyone who caved in. But I know myself to be a coward about pain, so I'd probably cave in myself.
