Yeah,a rip in space!Very well put.I have to say black holes are ......................................... D E A T H.OK seriously,A black hole is an object with a gravitational field so powerful that a region of space becomes cut off from the rest of the universe – no matter or radiation, including visible light that has entered the region can ever escape. The lack of escaping electromagnetic radiation renders the inside of black holes (beyond the event horizon) invisible, hence the name. However, black holes can be detectable if they interact with matter, e.g. by sucking in gas from an orbiting star. The gas spirals inward, heating up to very high temperatures and emitting large amounts of light, X-rays and Gamma rays in the process while still outside of the event horizon.Black holes are also thought to emit a weak form of thermal energy called Hawking radiation.

A black hole is essentially a very massive star. They are extremely dense, and the ammount of mass focused in such a small volume creates a very strong gravitational pull, to the point where even light cannot travel outward.

They can be observed through a phenominon known as gravitational lensing, where basically light travels close to the black hole, but not close enough to be pulled beyond the event horizon. The light's path will be bent around the black hole due to the gravitational force.

Basically they are created when a star reaches a certain density, either through the accumulation of mass from other bodies or collapse when the reactants for nuclear fusion are depleted.

A black hole is a point in space where gravity's power becomes sufficiently great that nothing can escape, even light (hence the name /black/ hole). They are generally created when a huge star dies and is crushed by gravity. There is some thought that this creates a rip in the fabric of spacetime, but this is not for certain.

a black hole is a collapsed star, not a rip in space. it sucks any matter near it in including light into it. some scientists believe that black holes spit the matter out into another dimension(there are 11 dimensions supposedly). a black hole forms when when a gas giant has run out of "feul" and collapses in on itsellf thus forming a black hole. hope this helps.

a basic and easy way to explain it is it's when gravity wins. when a star uses all of its fule then gravity pulls in so hard that it pulls in on its self and forms a hyper massive center (the blackhole) the gravity is so strong it pulls in everything even light. we only see black holes when the suck in matter or gas, but sometimes you can see them from how they destort the light from other stars. try looking trough a glass and thats kinda how the light gets bent. it would not be fun if black hole came near us.

black hole is a point where very all the mass is compressed and concentrated at one point. And for your information if our earth's radius is reduced to an extent of 8mm then our earth will become a blackhole and if the sun's radius is reduced to 3km then it will become a blackhole.

Dark matter perhaps in a very dense form.
