People say that race shouldn't/doesn't matter...that we're all human beings and the same. But yet some (not all, but SOME) of those same people get upset when people of their own race date others of a different race. Does anyone else find that to be very hypocritical?

I've heard people argue against bigotry and racism but then also complain because men or women of their race date men or women of other races. Why is that such an issue if you are against racism?

AH... you see, the complaints and arguments about racism are complaints about racism against THEM. They do not include themselves, because they do not believe they ARE racists. To them, it is perfectly OK to not like certain people, because they feel those people don't like THEM - they have a "RIGHT" to be a hater. This is known as IGNORANCE and in some cases, STUPIDITY. I think ignorance and stupidity are FAR more serious issues than who dates who or who doesn't like your skin color.

It's NICE to see people like you who are intelligent and see through the immaturity - YES indeed, you have identified true hypocrites!

Guess I'm a little hypocritical, too.....

Each race has certain characteristics that get "diluted" when children are born to parents who are from different races. No, I'm not just talking of my own race- ALL races.

I have a brother who recently married a woman of a different race. I love her dearly, but the two of them are from such different cultures... I'm not so concerned about the color as the culture differences- they will have to explore those differences and find some common ground....

Maybe that's the real issue- not the race, but the culture differences.

Because people often say things to seem "PC correct" or acceptible to others but really are not as they seem. In other words an act and usually its because they forget what they say on such topics one day then say something of the opposite the next. Trust me, this extends well beyond racism from the most complex situation to the smallest. People tell you what the greater number want to hear but stick to their own convictions when challenged or absent minded.

Yeah, I know first hand what you're talking about. I am in a mixed relationship and I hear those type of comments from certain people. I wish instead of looking at a mixed relationship in envy or disgust people would just be happy that 2 people found love.

There is always room for one more hypocrite, but at least many are trying to rise above these attitudes.

Let us focus on those who give it an honest effort in the right direction, and give as little attention as possible to those who do not.

I think it's hypocritical.
Basically the only difference between all of us is that we have different colored skin than other people of the world.. Sure all of or backgrounds are different, but when you really think about it, isn't everybody's?
