"Absence (of a loved one) makes the heart grow fonder."
Absence (of water) makes the thirst grow stronger.
Scarcity increases demand and makes prices higher.
There's a general principle in here, don't you think?

It means you don't really know what something's worth or means to you until you don't have it anymore.
In other words, you take your unlimited access to water for granted, but all of a sudden it's shut off or gone, and you start to realize just how good you had it before.

When it's all gone, then and only then, will you know just how important it really is, or was. Don't take things for granted or don't look a gift horse in the mouth.

It means like you don't know what you have til its gone. You can't appreciate something unless you know what its like to run out..try havin your car break down...or electricity have an outtage for more than one day...then you'll realize how much you depend on these things.

it means that take what you have and realize its value and worth while you still have it. dont take it for granite. because before you know it that things may be gone and you would then see how specail, important or amazing that thing really was.

Never take anything for granted. When you lose something, you realize how valuable it truly is. Also, you should never assume that something will always be in abundance when, in reality, there are limits to resources.
