I wouldn't put it past him. They're already setting the groundwork by changing the reasons that can be used for implementing it.

The Defense Authorization Act of 2006, passed on Sept. 30, empowers President George W. Bush to impose martial law in the event of a terrorist “incident,” if he or other federal officials perceive a shortfall of “public order,” or even in response to antiwar protests that get unruly as a result of government provocations. ...........The new law expands the list to include “natural disaster, epidemic, or other serious public health emergency, terrorist attack or incident, or other condition”—and such “condition” is not defined or limited.

Do you mean the Marshall Plan to rebuild Europe from 50 years ago? No, I don't think Bush would declare that.

Or do you mean martial law? For what reason would he declare that? And what makes you think Mr. Bush would want to hang around the Washington snake pit one moment more than necessary. I bet he's dreaming of retirement.

He'll have to disband the congress and senate first...

I wish he would try something like that...then maybe people would open their eyes to what is happening already.

Then maybe the citizens will finally decide to put the government in check.

We are losing our country to corrupt government a little more each day.

What's funny is that most people don't think that it is possible this has already been considered.

I wouldn't put anything past Bush co.

marshal law is kind of meaningless when all the troops are out of town fighting GWB's bogus war. He could declare it but without the military there's no enforcing it. It's doubtful Georgie will connect the dots and realize this though.

Of course they won't. But they might be declaring sheriff law or constable law instead.

No. What reason would they have to enact Marshall Law?

no no no no ... he won't cancel the elections ... but he will do his best to insure they are as rigged as possible (i.e. Florida's beautiful electorial system) ... then after winning a 3rd time (which is illegal) he will declare himself King of all the Earth, and go on a starvation diet once Prime Minster Brown of Britian thumbs his nose at him ... :P nuff said

of course, but he first he will burn all the books not sanctioned by the state, then he will make libs were patches so we can readily id them, and then he will make them all live in a ghetto so they can be rounded up quickly and marched into his gas chambers, and then he will arrest any citizen who dares to speak out against him.

is that what you wanted to hear??

Please, first of all, write it right, not "marshall law" but "Martial Law", from Mars, god of war and of the military.

And...yes, I think it is very very much possible, case President Cheney gets the new war he is seeking.
