The Yankees are only 4 games back of Cleveland for the wild card and 7 games back of Boston in the A.L. East. So yes they do have a chance with a good schedule of under .500 clubs to help them making a run

I personally say no. the resaon being is cleveland is a better overall team or in the very least the yanks equals.
but even if cleveland loses the wild card then that means the yanks would have to beat out the tigers..or the twins. I just don't see the yanks beating out Cleveland, Detroit or Minnisota for the wild card. each of those teams can match the yanks in hitting and certianly out pitch them (with excpetion of the Indians)
and lets be real-the yanks can call up whoever they want from the farm system-but there's no rookie they have right now who will lead them past the tigers, twins or indians.
and beating up on tampa bay and tornto really shouldn't count as wins...but hey they do.
so I'm gonna say no. simply because there are better or equal teams LEADING the yanks right now. that's just a simple fact.

Do they have a shot at both? Sure they do since they aren't 20 games back from either right now. Honestly though I don't think they will win the East...the Red Sox got out to too much of a lead and they are playing real well right now. They may catch the Wild Card though since, lucky for them, the Red Sox are beating up on the Indians right now...don't count out Seattle though. I think the best race may be the race to capture the Wild Card. Also, to a poster above me...I am not going to complain about the Yankees schedule but to say it is the same over the course of the season as the rest of the A.L. East including the Red Sox is just wrong...I know for a fact the Yanks have more games against the White Sox than Boston and the Yanks played the Pirates who the Red Sox don't play just to name a couple. I'm not complaining but I just wanted to point out that what you said was false.

Yes they do. They care clicking on all cylinders, and will get even better when Phil Hughes comes back. That means they can get Igawa out of the rotation, which will rest the bullpen even more.
I don't even want to hear the Yankee-haters whining about the Yankees schedule. They play the same schedule over the course of the season as do the other A.L. East teams, including Boston. Yes, they are playing some easy teams, but the Yankees still have to go out there and win.
I don't think the Yankees have a shot at the AL East, there is just too much ground to make up. I think they are going to get the Wild Card, they are just playing great right now, and I don't think they will play as badly as they did earlier.

4 and 1/2 games out of the Wild Card?
Anyone who sais they dont have a shot is a COMPLETE moron.
Red Sox are playing very well and will be tough to catch. I think the yankees will have the wild card lead within a month.
