We will never be "safe" from terrorism.

Islamofascism, right-wing nutjubs (eg, OKC), left-wing lunatics (eg, ecoterrorists), the lone wolf (eg, VT).

Welcome to the modern world. =)

Personally I believe that the issue of Terrorism is a big one. I dont think that those terrorists just kill so that they can get to heaven where they will find 72 or whatever number of virgins. I think that terrorist are motivated by some form of injustice that they see.

The only way that a country can be safe from Terrorism is by being viewed as one that tries to understand the concerns of the others; being seen as a party offering a solution rather than people out to protect their own interests at the expense of other people.

I am no expert but if there is anything that I know to be true, is the fact that Terrrorism will NEVER be won by war, or millitary means, Terrorism will be won when those countries seen as oppressors by Terrorists, change their policies and put in place policies that address issues raised by those who choose to be terrorists

So many soldiers, and civilians have died in Iraq, for example. Those are lives lost.
What politicians should ask themselves is, must this be always the way to handle adversity?
Is there a better way of handling issues other than through war, or military means.
I believe there is, and I believe that so many lives have been lost and will continue to be, just because someone somewhere doesnt want to look for an alternative to a problem.

There is always a threat of terrorism no matter what country you live in. We have been lucky to not have had more than what we have. A lot of countries deal with it on a day to day basis. We are a strong country with a large military defense and I feel like that is the reason we don't more terrorist attacks. We are hated by every country!!!! There will always be terrorist after the U.S.A. We just have to defend our country from all of it.

we will never be completely safe. as long as evil exists in thsi world there will be terrorist attacks. no matter whose the president, america will never be safe or really the same, the country changed on 9/11 we cant go back to how we were and maybe thats a good things, we are more observant than ever and it has helped us stay safer than we could be. but we cant very well get rid of all evil inthe world so we will always have to be on the defensive and offensive when it comes to our countrys safety.

9/11 was the culmination of total incompetence and stupidity from all sides of government and airline industries. Planes had been hijacked since 1970 and Europe had warned the USA to install lockable steel doors for plane cabins and increase airport controls since 1971. Frankfurt (Germany) airport has 3000 special police guarding and controlling the airport since 1972. Anybody was able to go with any weapon through air port controls before 9/11 in the USA.
The Bush administration has totally overreacted and abused its power to waist needed money for our homeland security in senseless invasions, feeding the hate and uniting more Muslims against the USA.
The biggest threat to our Country is Bush and is total abhorrent incompetence, the second is the part of the public, which supports him.

We are safe if we learn to play fair, and also respect the UN and let them do their job.
If not, we still have a right to seek and destroy, just like we did in Afghanistan... No one blamed us then. That was brilliant, except we did it on the cheap and Osama got away.
Before we finished all that, we also went into Iraq. Now we are making more enemies than we are destroying and also building up the ire of the world...
We have to learn to let the UN handle terrorism and other grievances. That is why they are there.

If we wre safe, it wouldn't have happened in the first place. Terrorists are always going to find a way in

The terrorist threat is a result of a foreign policy that has supported ruthless dictator ships, and called them "democracy".

Invading Iraq, because it's ruthless dictator that we once supported decided to stop playing ball by our rules, has INCREASED the threat.

The ony way to reduce the threat (I do not think it will ever be eliminated) will be to institute a foriegn policy that TRULY respects the rights of citizens in the third world.
