I have to rationally ask anyone out there is they SERIOUSLY believe that The DaVinci Code is real.
Yes, its true they talk about people that really existed, Jesus, Mary, etc.
If someone would take the time and turn the book in its spine, they will see it clearly says "Fiction".

So I guess my question is this, do you believe The DaVinci Code is non-fiction, and do you have evidence of this?

The DA VINCI CODE is poorly researched historical fiction.

The author has his history of the Catholic Church all wrong and is basically pandering to the protestant stereotype of the Catholic Church.

Does Opus Dei exist? Yes it does, but it is one out of many Catholic organizations, such as REGNUM CHRISTI 'The Legion of Christ' or even the Knights of Columbus, and I was curious why the author, Dan Brown, did not mention these well know Catholic organizations also? These organizations are not sinister or secret, but they are made out to be in THE DA VINCI CODE.

Do some people really believe that Dan Brown is a Satanist corrupting people with his books? Do some people really believe that J.K. Rowling wrote Harry Potter to lure children into witchcraft and Satan worship?
Yeah, I imagine that someone, somewhere actually believes it's non-fiction. Or that what it says is true, at least. But most of the type of person who would believe that anti-religious version of history are the people smart enough to know that fiction is fiction. The book wouldn't have gotten nearly as much hype if it weren't for a particular breed of Bible thumpers loudly denouncing it as evil. And the idea that Jesus was "with" Mary Magdalene was in no way, shape, or form the invention of Dan Brown. He just made it popular.

There is no way I'd ever describe the book as non-fiction. It takes a lot of suppositions (like a lot of good literature) and weaves an interesting tale, but to think it's fact-based is a bit of a stretch.

Personally, I found the book "The Secret Supper"--also fiction--to have a much more plausible premise than the one that Dan Brown came up with.

The Da Vinci Code is fiction. The problem is is that Dan Brown purports the "facts" spoken by his characters as if they had some truth to them. They do not. I didn't particularly care for this book as I felt it was way too simplistic. He would tell you the answers to the riddles before you even had the opportunity to try to figure them out on your own.

I don't know anyone who takes this book seriously. It is a creative interpretation of history with no solid evidence.

In response to the other answerer-- a good amount of people still see the Bible as fiction so that hasn't changed much.

i think it says fiction on it becuase all statements are not proven or true, but it is a book that does deal with fact in areas. i think it is more his opinion on what he has studied, but having holes in his therory he must publish it as fiction

but as i say that those thumping their bible well the same could be said of it. many parts of the bible are not provable as fact.

also in the book stores a bible gets its own section "religion" but if they didnt do that and were forced to put it in non fiction or fiction they would chose fiction.
